Saudi Arabia and Ireland have taken a step toward expanding bilateral aviation cooperation following the signing of a record of discussions on air transport services between the two countries.
The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) in Riyadh by Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of GACA, and Gerry Cunningham, Ambassador of Ireland to Saudi Arabia, representing the Irish Aviation Authority.
The record of discussions is aligned with the principles of the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation and is intended to establish a regulatory framework governing air transport services between Saudi Arabia and Ireland.
The framework supports the development of aviation relations by providing clear guidelines for cooperation and future engagement between the two countries.
According to GACA, the agreement enhances cooperation in the aviation sector through a framework based on mutual benefit, mutual respect, and compliance with the laws, regulations, and procedures applicable in both countries.
The discussions record is expected to facilitate greater coordination on matters related to air transport services while creating opportunities for future collaboration in areas of common interest within the aviation industry.
The agreement also provides a basis for strengthening connectivity between Saudi Arabia and Ireland, supporting the movement of passengers and cargo and contributing to broader economic and commercial relations.

The signing forms part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to expand its international aviation network and strengthen partnerships with global aviation authorities and regulators.
Saudi Arabia has been pursuing a broad program of aviation sector development, enhancing connectivity, improving infrastructure, and increasing the Kingdom’s role in global air transport.
Expanding international agreements and regulatory cooperation remains an important component of these efforts.
The latest agreement with Ireland reflects the Kingdom’s continued focus on building relationships with international partners and supporting the growth of air transport links that contribute to trade, tourism, and investment.
