Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) has signed three key manufacturing agreements with leading Turkish defense companies to enhance localization of the Kingdom’s land systems industry.

The agreements were signed by Eng. Mohammed bin Saud Alhodaib, Executive Vice President of Land Systems at SAMI, a wholly owned subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. They are aimed at transferring defense technologies and localizing manufacturing operations within the Kingdom.

The signings took place in the presence of Dr. Khalid bin Hussein Al-Biyari, Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs, Eng. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), and Prof. Haluk Görgün, President of the Turkish Defense Industries Agency.

The first agreement, with Nurol Makina, focuses on the transfer of technology and domestic production of its military vehicles. The second agreement, signed with FNSS Defense Systems, covers the localization of armored combat vehicles and turret weapon systems. The third agreement, with ASELSAN, involves transferring turret systems manufacturing capabilities to the Kingdom, supporting combat vehicle projects.

All technology transfer and manufacturing under these agreements will take place at the upcoming SAMI Land Industrial Complex, expected to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2025. Designed to meet global standards, the facility will specialize in producing 4×4, 6×6, and 8×8 armored vehicles and advanced turret systems.

The complex will also implement Industry 4.0 technologies, including artificial intelligence, robotics, and the Internet of Things, to enable intelligent, unmanned operations that improve efficiency and product quality. These agreements by SAMI mark a significant step in achieving Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives, promoting defense self-sufficiency and building advanced local capabilities in the military sector.

The SAMI Land Systems Division is working to achieve the company’s strategic objectives by actively contributing to the localization of the defense industry in the Kingdom through the development of advanced industrial capabilities and the delivery of high-quality products and services throughout the product lifecycle in accordance with the needs of end users.
