Saudi Arabia has strengthened its technology and innovation cooperation with China through discussions on artificial intelligence (AI), the digital economy, advanced technologies, and the space sector.
The meetings were held in Beijing by Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Space Agency.
Accompanied by Eng. Haytham AlOhali, Governor of the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST), Alswaha met senior Chinese government officials and technology leaders as part of the Kingdom’s broader strategy to expand global technology partnerships and support the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
During talks with Li Lecheng, China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, the two sides explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in AI, the digital economy, and emerging technologies.
They also discussed localizing advanced technologies and expanding joint initiatives in telecommunications, advanced manufacturing, and innovation.
Alswaha also met Zhou Jie, Chairman of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), to discuss cooperation in space technologies.
The meeting covered satellite manufacturing, knowledge transfer, and the development of national capabilities to support the continued growth of Saudi Arabia’s space sector.
The minister held talks with Wang Xing, Meituan Founder and Chairman to explore the use of AI across digital services, smart logistics solutions, and smart city applications.
The discussions also covered opportunities to foster innovation and accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies in the Kingdom.
The meetings form part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to expand international partnerships in technology and space, develop national capabilities, and strengthen the competitiveness of its digital economy.
