President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, and Cuba’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Miguel Porto Parga have signed an agreement on air transport services between the governments of Saudi Arabia and Cuba.

The signing ceremony took place at GACA’s headquarters in Riyadh, marking a step forward in strengthening aviation cooperation between the two countries. The signing took place as part of the official visit of the Cuban prime minister to attend the ninth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference in Riyadh.

The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the field of air transport services and to promote stronger bilateral relations based on mutual benefit, respect, and shared development goals, in accordance with the laws and regulations of both countries. It also seeks to establish clear regulatory frameworks for air transport operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and the sustainable growth of aviation connectivity between Saudi Arabia and Cuba.

Furthermore, it underscores their shared commitment to strengthening international cooperation in civil aviation and enhancing global air connectivity in line with international standards and best practices.

This step represents a major milestone in advancing the objectives of the national aviation program, which focuses on fostering international partnerships and strengthening global relations in the civil aviation sector. It will further empower Saudi Arabia’s national carriers to expand their operational networks, enhance the Kingdom’s global air connectivity to reach 250 destinations, and support growth in passenger capacity to 330 million annually by 2030.

The initiative aligns closely with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to position the Kingdom as a leading global aviation hub, stimulate tourism and investment, and drive economic diversification across the sector.
