The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Sudan have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in transport, logistics, railways, ports, maritime affairs, training, and the exchange of information and technical expertise.
The memorandum was signed by Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Oman’s Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and Saif Al Nasr Al Tijani, Sudan’s Minister of Infrastructure and Transport.
The agreement provides a framework for cooperation between the two countries in sectors related to transport and logistics.
It covers railways, ports, maritime affairs, and other transport-related activities, while also promoting collaboration in training, technical cooperation, and institutional engagement.
Under the memorandum, both sides will cooperate in the exchange of assistance and the use of facilities, equipment, and operational resources related to transport and logistics activities, where appropriate.
The agreement also facilitates the exchange of personnel for training and professional development through specialized courses, technical programs, and practical training to enhance professional capabilities.
The MoU further provides for the organization of joint meetings, technical visits, and consultations between officials and specialists from both countries.
These activities facilitate the sharing of operational experience, technical knowledge, and industry practices in areas covered by the agreement.
In addition, the two countries will exchange information relating to air, sea, and rail transport, enabling relevant authorities to cooperate more closely on matters of common interest.
The agreement also supports communication between the respective institutions responsible for transport and logistics to encourage the exchange of technical data and expertise.
The memorandum forms part of broader bilateral cooperation between Oman and Sudan and establishes a formal mechanism for collaboration in transport and logistics.
