Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have discussed strengthening industrial cooperation and expanding investment partnerships, particularly in the fertilizer sector.
The discussions took place during a virtual meeting between Bandar Alkhorayef, Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources; Haroon Akhtar Khan, Pakistan’s Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industries and Production; and Musadik Malik, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination.
The discussions highlighted the longstanding political and economic relationship between the two countries and explored opportunities to deepen collaboration across industrial development, manufacturing capabilities, and supply chain integration.
According to officials, both sides reviewed potential areas for cooperation in fertilizer production and related industrial activities, reflecting growing regional interest in strengthening food security and industrial supply chains.
Human capital and industrial development
The ministers also explored opportunities to exchange expertise in human capital development, technical training, and industrial skills enhancement.
Discussions covered cooperation in the construction of advanced industrial cities and the development of ready-made factory infrastructure aimed at supporting industrial growth and attracting investment.
Officials said the talks focused on strengthening industrial efficiency while encouraging greater private-sector participation in future industrial projects and manufacturing initiatives.
Supply chain and export challenges
The meeting also addressed challenges facing exporters in both countries, with discussions centered on improving the smooth flow of goods and enhancing integration within regional and international supply chains.
Both sides reviewed measures aimed at supporting trade facilitation and improving industrial connectivity amid changing global trade and logistics conditions.
The session was attended by senior officials from the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the Saudi Export Development Authority, and members of Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council.
Expanding economic cooperation
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have continued to strengthen economic cooperation across sectors, including industry, mining, infrastructure, and energy, in recent years.
The fertilizer sector has emerged as an important area of collaboration due to its role in supporting agricultural productivity, food security, and industrial development.
Saudi Arabia remains one of the world’s leading producers of petrochemical and fertilizer products, while Pakistan continues to expand its industrial and agricultural manufacturing base to support domestic and regional demand.
