King Saud Medical City (KSMC), part of the Riyadh First Health Cluster, has successfully performed its first two left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) pacemaker implantation procedures, marking a medical milestone and the first such cases conducted at Ministry of Health hospitals in Saudi Arabia using BIOTRONIK’s latest pacing technology.

The procedures represent a significant advancement in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, as LBBAP technology delivers a more physiological form of electrical stimulation that closely mimics the heart’s natural conduction system compared to conventional pacing methods.

By activating the heart’s electrical pathways in a more natural sequence, the technique helps maintain better synchrony in ventricular contraction, reduces the risk of pacing-induced complications, and supports more efficient cardiac performance over time.

This improved physiological pacing is associated with enhanced cardiac function, better hemodynamic stability, and more favorable long-term clinical outcomes for patients.

Both procedures were completed successfully without complications by a specialized team from KSMC’s cardiac electrophysiology department. The interventions were carried out in line with the latest international medical standards and best clinical practices.

The adoption of this advanced technology reflects KSMC’s ongoing efforts to enhance cardiac care services and introduce innovative treatment methods within the Kingdom’s public healthcare system.

By implementing left bundle branch area pacing, KSMC further strengthens its position as a leading center for advanced cardiac care in the Kingdom, reinforcing its role in adopting cutting-edge electrophysiology techniques and expanding access to innovative heart rhythm management solutions.

This milestone by KSMC also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader healthcare transformation goals, which focus on enhancing clinical excellence, improving patient outcomes, and integrating modern medical technologies across the national healthcare system to deliver higher standards of care.
