Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, discussed opportunities to strengthen trade and investment relations with Dubai during a meeting with officials from Dubai Chambers held on the sidelines of the organization’s trade mission to South Africa.

The remarks were made during a meeting with Dubai Chambers officials held on the sidelines of Dubai Chambers’ trade mission to South Africa in Johannesburg, where both sides discussed ways to enhance trade and investment cooperation between Dubai and Lesotho.

The meeting was attended by Salem AlShamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, and Mahash Saeed AlHameli, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa and Non-Resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Lesotho, along with senior ministers from Lesotho.

The delegation included Nthati Moorosi, Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation; Mohlomi Moleko, Minister of Natural Resources; Motlatsi Maqelepo, Minister of Trade, Industry and Business Development; and Ntsime Jafeta, High Commissioner of Lesotho to South Africa.

During the discussions, Prime Minister Matekane reaffirmed Lesotho’s commitment to strengthening investment relations with Dubai. He highlighted the importance of leveraging Dubai’s expertise in logistics, infrastructure development, and the digital economy to enhance bilateral economic cooperation and unlock new investment opportunities.

Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane also proposed the organization of a Dubai–Lesotho Business Forum, describing it as a key platform to showcase investment opportunities and facilitate stronger engagement between the private sectors of both markets.

Dubai Chambers officials reiterated their commitment to deepening economic ties and expanding cooperation between businesses in Dubai and Lesotho.

They emphasized efforts to connect private sector companies, diversify trade partnerships, and create new opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs across priority sectors.

The meeting also focused on supporting the expansion of Dubai-based companies into regional African markets by fostering partnerships with local stakeholders and identifying new avenues for sustainable economic growth.

Both sides underlined their shared interest in advancing long-term economic collaboration aimed at mutual growth and prosperity.
