Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, has signed the Buckingham Palace Declaration, joining the United for Wildlife Transport Taskforce, a global coalition committed to combating the illegal trade in endangered species through stronger transport sector collaboration.

The UK-based initiative, established by Prince William and The Royal Foundation, Buckingham Palace Declaration brings together more than 400 organizations worldwide to tackle wildlife trafficking, strengthen supply chain security and protect endangered species.

The Buckingham Palace Declaration was signed by Oman Air CEO Con Korfiatis during a ceremony in London marking the 10th anniversary of the United for Wildlife Transport Taskforce.

By joining the alliance, Oman Air becomes part of a global network of leading airlines, ports, shipping companies and logistics providers working to raise awareness of wildlife trafficking, implement zero-tolerance policies, improve the detection of illegal shipments and strengthen information sharing across the industry.

Con Korfiatis stated that Oman Air recognizes its responsibility to help prevent the illegal trade in endangered wildlife through the global aviation network and is committed to working with industry partners to reinforce international efforts against wildlife trafficking.

Lord William Hague, co-chair of United for Wildlife, welcomed Oman Air to the task force, and pointed out that the addition strengthens international efforts to disrupt smuggling routes and enhances the aviation sector’s ability to detect and deter wildlife trafficking through closer cooperation with law enforcement agencies and conservation partners.

The signing of the Buckingham Palace Declaration reflects Oman Air’s commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices while supporting the Sultanate of Oman’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
