Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Zakat and Income (GAZT) has stated that the Kingdom’s government will pay value-added tax (VAT) on three services and products on behalf of the citizens

The Saudi Government will bear the cost of VAT for the following items;

  • Private education
  • Purchase of the first house by the citizens where its cost does not exceed $226,597 and
  • Healthcare expenses at private health centers

The Kingdom had raised VAT on services and goods from July 1 which saw a considerable increase in the VAT percentages from 5 to 15 percent in order to mitigate the economic impact induced by the coronavirus pandemic.
