The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Saudi Reef) has turned a Taif rose farm into a leading rural tourism destination, producing premium oils and perfumes.

This transformation is helping revitalize regional trade and aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals for economic diversification and sustainable development.

The Taif rose is a rare and highly coveted flower, grown in the high-altitude, cool climate of Taif, Saudi Arabia. Renowned for its rich, intense, and complex fragrance, this rose is a descendant of the Damask rose and boasts 30 delicate petals.

A cornerstone in luxury perfumery, the Taif rose is famous for its use in crafting exquisite scents, including the fragrance that adorns the Holy Kaaba, making it a symbol of cultural and aromatic significance.

The farm owner highlighted that Saudi Reef’s guidance was instrumental in expanding operations and mastering the complex extraction process for natural oils.

The governorate’s moderate climate provides the ideal environment for Taif roses, which are pruned in January to prepare for a harvest that must occur before sunrise to preserve maximum oil content.

This careful process guarantees the exceptional quality of the farm’s signature products, including luxury perfumes, rose-infused linen sprays, and musks.

Serving as a model of rural development, the farm highlights the significant potential of the rose sector to drive both tourism and economic sustainability. Its success story not only demonstrates how traditional agriculture can evolve into a profitable and diversified industry but also emphasizes the importance of preserving cultural heritage.

The Saudi Reef plays a crucial role in empowering local farmers, providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to transform their operations into thriving, culturally meaningful enterprises that contribute to regional economic growth.
