Saudi Arabia’s Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) will collaborate on data and information governance, the facilitation of knowledge exchange, as well as sharing of industry knowledge and insights.

The agreement was signed by the President of KACST, His Excellency Dr. Munir M. Eldesouki, and Mr. Jerry Inzerillo, the CEO of DGDA.

Under the agreement, which aims to negotiate across areas where both parties are active, DGDA and KACST will jointly explore research projects and collaborate on aerial photography, three-dimensional (3D) imaging, and radar scanning efforts to improve understanding of the buried and subterranean areas within DGDA’s supervisory area, focusing specifically on artifacts of the early Saudi states.

The agreement will also see cooperation between advanced material technologies and automated building systems, which support the best management of DGDA’s supervisory area.

According to Mr. Inzerillo, the agreement opens the door to a new world that has been hidden underground for centuries and will help to develop and enhance our understanding of various aspects of the region. As per the DGDA instruction, it is important to focus not only on improving the living standards of citizens, residents, and visitors today but also on preserving the history, heritage, and culture of Diriya.

Meanwhile, Mr. Eldesouki emphasized that KACST actively builds partnerships with the public, private and non-profit sectors to ensure the application of scientific and technological products, to serve development projects, and to achieve leadership aspirations in the transformation of an innovation-based economy.

Activities are undertaken by the Diriyah Gate Development Authority to contribute to the preservation of Diriyah’s historical and cultural heritage and the application of high sustainability standards in the light of the country’s vision for 2030.
