The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) has introduced an accreditation certificate for artificial intelligence (AI) service providers in Saudi Arabia.

The landmark initiative comes as part of SDAIA’s national efforts to elevate AI maturity level and strengthen the reliability of its diverse applications. The goal of these measures  is to improve the quality of AI products and services available to citizens, residents, and visitors to the Kingdom.

This falls in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, led by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the SDAIA’s Board of Directors, which aims to cement the Kingdom’s position as a a pioneer in advanced technologies.

The submitted entities will be thoroughly assessed through the “National Data Governance” platform, which provides evaluation tools for products and services across various maturity levels.

Exceptional entities will receive incentive tags reflecting these maturity levels, paving the way for accreditation. The initiative aims to foster the responsible use of AI products and services.

The platform provides incentives to enhance AI products reliability and adherence, as well as to foster responsible AI development practices in products and services.

The certificate will come with a set of incentive tags for entities, categorized according to the risk levels, which are: conscious, adoptive, committed, reliable, and pioneer. These tags will be valid for one year and will highlight the maturity level of practices related to the principles of AI ethics stemming from the use of the product or service.

The issuance of the accreditation certificate falls in line with the goals of the authority in supporting the Kingdom’s leadership in the responsible use of AI. As the national reference for data and AI, the authority is committed to organizing, developing, and managing these sectors within the Kingdom. This includes establishing policies, standards, and controls, as well as disseminating this information to the relevant authorities.
