The Sharjah Fish Resources Authority (SFRA) has formalized a consultancy agreement with Tridel Meteorological Projects Company to design and supervise the marine facilities for the emirate’s flagship aquaculture farm development.
Under the contract, Tridel, recognized for its specialized expertise in marine and coastal engineering, will be responsible for producing detailed technical designs of the marine infrastructure, including marine cages for fish farming and the associated anchoring and mooring systems required for safe and efficient offshore operations.
The scope of work also extends to on‑site supervision of implementation, ensuring that construction and installation activities adhere to the highest engineering and technical standards throughout the project lifecycle.
In addition to the design phase, the consultancy will oversee execution of all marine facilities linked to the aquaculture development, serving as a technical authority to verify compliance with design specifications, environmental considerations, and best‑practice aquaculture engineering principles prior to the project’s forthcoming execution stage.
Speaking on the partnership, Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, Chairman of SFRA, emphasized the strategic importance of the aquaculture farm project to Sharjah’s broader fisheries sector advancement and food security objectives.
Abu Ghazin noted that the initiative aligns with the authority’s continued commitment to implementing strategic projects and initiatives that support sector development, sustainable growth, and meeting local market demand.
The project forms part of Sharjah’s wider efforts to enhance domestic food production capacity, particularly in the fisheries and aquaculture sphere, where global demand for sustainable aquatic food systems continues to rise.
International agencies such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have underscored the expanding role of aquaculture in securing nutritious food supplies and enhancing food security, reinforcing the relevance of investments like Sharjah’s aquaculture farm in regional development strategies.
By leveraging Tridel’s marine engineering capabilities, SFRA aims to ensure that its aquaculture infrastructure meets international standards for safety, efficiency, and operational resilience.
