The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been bolstering local honey producers through initiatives like the Al Dhaid Honey Festival, empowering beekeepers and strengthening the UAE beekeeping sector’s role in the economy.
The Sharjah Chamber aims to support beekeeping and honey production sector as part of its efforts to strengthen specialized national industries, empower entrepreneurs and SME owners, and enhance their contribution to the local economy.
These initiatives of the Chamber align with the Sharjah Executive Council’s comprehensive plan to sustain natural pastures and protect local bee breeds. The plan includes an advanced legislative framework for licensing beekeepers and regulating site use, aimed at transforming honey production from a traditional practice into a sustainable economic activity.
As part of these efforts, the Sharjah Chamber launched the Al Dhaid Honey Festival, which provides a strategic platform for producers to showcase the quality and diversity of locally produced honey. Participants presented premium varieties such as Sidr and Samar honey, along with rare types produced by local beekeepers, reflecting the richness of the UAE’s natural environment.
The Sharjah Chamber has also focused on expanding marketing opportunities for honey producers, promoting best practices in bee breeding, and supporting efficient supply chains. These measures contribute to national food security in line with the directives of the UAE leadership, while preserving Sharjah’s cultural and environmental heritage.
Mohammed Musbeh Al Tunaiji, Director of the Al Dhaid branch and General Coordinator of the festival, said that the Sharjah Chamber’s strategy aims to economically empower beekeepers, ensure product quality, and open access to regional and global export markets. He noted that the sector’s growth reflects rising confidence in Emirati honey and the Chamber’s role in creating innovative marketing platforms.
Al Tunaiji added that the festival provides a supportive environment for young talent and pioneering projects in the honey sector, contributing to sustainability and reinforcing long-term sectoral growth.
