The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled a comprehensive operational plan for Eid Al-Fitr to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient travel for residents and visitors across the emirate and surrounding areas during the peak holiday period.
His Excellency Eng. Yousif Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of Sharjah RTA, stated that the authority has raised its operational readiness and activated a comprehensive plan to accommodate the expected surge in passenger demand.
Central to the initiative is the operation of 4,600 intercity bus trips connecting Sharjah with neighboring cities, facilitating seamless movement between key destinations.
Eng. Al Othmani noted that, “The plan prioritizes enhancing public transport flow, updating schedules, and increasing trip frequency during the first two days of Eid, when passenger volumes are expected to peak.”
Intensified field monitoring and logistical support at Al Jubail Bus Station and other major hubs will ensure passengers enjoy a smooth and comfortable travel experience.
The operational schedule will run from March 19 to March 22, 2026, covering the four-day holiday. To maintain high service levels, RTA will operate continuous shifts, deploying a fleet of 155 modern buses for intercity routes.
All vehicles have undergone preventive maintenance and technical inspections to ensure uninterrupted service over extended hours.
To meet seasonal demand, bus intervals during peak hours will be reduced to five minutes, compared to 45 minutes on regular days. This measure is expected to minimize waiting times, improve travel speed, and enhance passenger convenience.
Al Jubail Bus Station will operate daily from 3:45 AM to 1:30 AM, providing full facilities for passengers. The international route 203 connecting Sharjah with Muscat will continue with two daily trips at 6:30 AM and 4:00 PM. Tickets can be booked online via the Mwasalat Oman platform or at the station’s ticket counter.
Within the city, Director of Transport Affairs, Abdulaziz Al Jarwan, confirmed that 1,144 daily trips will operate across 12 main routes, supported by 527 bus stops, while Route 22 will be temporarily suspended due to Souq Al Haraj closure.
The authority’s call center will operate around the clock to manage taxi bookings across categories as well as handle inquiries, feedback, and lost-and-found reports.
The center also provides public information on road and transport services, ensuring prompt response and service quality throughout the Eid holiday.
