Sohar Industrial City, affiliated with the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates ‘Madayn,’ has signed an investment agreement with Jindal Iron Moon Company to establish an integrated iron and steel plant worth an investment value of $390 million (RO150 million).
The project will be developed on a site exceeding 583,000 square meters in the seventh phase of Sohar Industrial City, further strengthening the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a regional hub for heavy industries and industrial investment.
The integrated facility is expected to support the local market by increasing the availability of iron and steel products while also contributing to the growth of Oman’s export sector.
The project is also anticipated to create employment opportunities for Omani nationals and support the country’s broader industrial development objectives.
The agreement reflects continued industrial expansion within Sohar Industrial City and aligns with ongoing efforts to attract strategic investments in manufacturing and value-added industries.
The development is expected to contribute to supply chain growth and strengthen industrial capabilities in the Sultanate.
The project follows the successful acquisition of Al Qamar Steel Company by the Jindal Group, a move that underlines the company’s expansion strategy in Oman and the wider region.
The investment also reflects increasing confidence among international industrial groups in Oman’s investment environment, infrastructure, and industrial ecosystem.
Sohar Industrial City has continued to attract local and international investments across a range of sectors, supported by its strategic location, integrated logistics infrastructure, and access to regional and international markets.
The addition of the new iron and steel facility is expected to further enhance Sohar’s role in supporting industrial diversification and economic growth in the Sultanate.
Madayn has been actively working to strengthen Oman’s industrial sector through the development of industrial cities, promotion of investment opportunities, and support for projects that contribute to economic diversification and sustainable development goals.
