UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has explored various aspects of cooperation with His Excellency António Costa, President of the European Council.

During the meeting, UAE and European Union engaged in discussions on bilateral relations between the UAE and the European Union, including its individual member states. They explored various avenues to strengthen and expand these ties, with a shared focus on fostering mutual benefits, enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors, and promoting sustainable progress for all stakeholders involved.

CEPA: Advancing UAE and European Union economic ties

Furthermore, the two sides addressed the ongoing negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and European Union. They emphasized the significance of this agreement in deepening bilateral relations and supporting shared economic and development objectives.

His Highness and the President of the European Council reviewed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, with a particular focus on developments in the Middle East. They emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to enable the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of civilians.

According to the statement, they also called for intensified international efforts to advance progress towards a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. The two sides further underlined the vital importance of diplomacy and dialogue in resolving regional crises and safeguarding regional and global security and stability.

The UAE and European Union enjoy a strong and steadily growing partnership rooted in shared interests and mutual respect. Their relations span a broad range of sectors, including trade, investment, energy, climate action, technology, and regional security.
