The UAE National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) have reviewed the latest regional and international developments related to the Ebola virus, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public health preparedness and safeguard community safety across the UAE.
The review was conducted during a high-level coordination meeting chaired by Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, in coordination with NCEMA. The meeting brought together representatives from relevant government entities and strategic partners to assess preparedness measures and ensure readiness against Ebola virus to respond to any potential health risks.
Discussions focused on current epidemiological developments and the UAE’s comprehensive preparedness framework, including the country’s capacity to detect, assess and respond to any suspected or confirmed Ebola cases in line with approved national and international health protocols.
Participants also reviewed progress on previously agreed action plans, highlighting the importance of continued coordination among relevant authorities and stakeholders. The meeting emphasized the need to ensure that all preparedness measures remain aligned with national response requirements and evolving public health challenges.
The session further examined precautionary measures implemented against Ebola spread at airports and reviewed aviation-related health protocols designed to reduce the risk of disease transmission through international travel. Officials also assessed the readiness of institutional quarantine facilities operated by local health authorities, should their use become necessary.
In addition, attendees reviewed the national public awareness and communications strategy to ensure the timely dissemination of clear, accurate and reliable information to the public through official channels. The review aimed to strengthen community awareness and support informed decision-making during potential public health events.
NCEMA and the Ministry of Health and Prevention reaffirmed that the public health situation in the UAE remains stable. They stressed that the country’s health preparedness and response systems continue to operate effectively, with authorities closely monitoring global and regional developments to protect public health and maintain community safety.
