A delegation from the UAE Accountability Authority (UAEAA), led by Humaid Obaid Khalifa Obaid Abushibs, President of the UAEAA, attended the ministerial meeting of the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

The meeting, held under South Africa’s G20 presidency for 2025, brought together key international leaders to discuss global anti-corruption efforts.

The delegation emphasized that the UAE adopts a comprehensive institutional strategy that views accountability and anti-corruption efforts as key pillars for achieving sustainable development. This approach aligns with the nation’s leadership directives, which prioritize transparency, integrity, and good governance as fundamental values.

The UAE’s commitment to these principles reflects its broader vision to foster a strong, transparent economy and ensure ethical practices across all sectors of society, positioning accountability as a strategic investment in the country’s long-term growth and prosperity.

During its address, the delegation stressed that combating corruption requires collective action and comprehensive international cooperation. It reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to this cause, highlighting the role of its audit body in strengthening the exchange of expertise and building partnerships among supreme audit and accountability institutions worldwide.

The delegation also underscored the vital importance of fostering greater cooperation between the public and private sectors to cultivate trust and transparency within the business and investment environment, which are crucial for sustainable economic growth and global competitiveness.

In September, UAEAA signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Office of the Auditor General of the Republic of Seychelles and the Office of the Auditor General of the Republic of Uganda to boost audit cooperation.
