UAE-based self-storage company, The Box Self Storage (The Box) has awarded a contract to the region’s leading sustainable energy provider for businesses, Yellow Door Energy, to supply the solar power system for its newest self-storage, multi-storey facility based in Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC).

As per the deal, Yellow Door Energy is responsible for investing in, designing, building, commissioning, operating, and maintaining the solar plant. Industrial building owners may lower their energy expenses without any upfront investment or operational risk by collaborating with solar developers while focusing on their core business and reaping the benefits of clean energy.

The new facility will offer open co-working spaces that have been designed to accommodate storage customers such as eCommerce and SME’s in need of a one-stop-shop solution, the company stated.

“The 312 kilowatt-peak rooftop solar plant is expected to generate more than 800,000 kilowatt-hours of clean energy in its first year of operation, equivalent to reducing 300,000 kilograms of carbon emissions or planting 5,600 trees,” according to the company statement. Over 630 solar panels will be installed on the 1,500 square meter roof area. The new facility’s parking will also be equipped with an electric vehicle charger.
