Arabian Gulf Automobiles and Equipment (AGAE) has launched Deepal, Changan’s new energy vehicle brand, in Oman, introducing a range of Range Extended Electric Vehicles (REEVs) aimed at expanding advanced electrified mobility solutions in the Sultanate.
The launch event showcased the Deepal S05, S07 and G318 models, which combine electric driving capability with extended range technology, intelligent features and enhanced driving performance. The move marks a significant step for Changan Group’s expansion in Oman’s growing electric and hybrid mobility sector.
Deepal has been positioned as a dedicated new energy vehicle brand focused on three core pillars:
- Superior performance
- Superior comfort
- Superior safety
The REEV technology allows drivers to operate vehicles primarily on electric power for daily commuting, while a range extender supports longer journeys, reducing concerns over charging infrastructure and driving range.
Premium features tailored for Oman roads
According to AGAE, the Deepal line-up is designed to suit both urban commuting and long-distance travel requirements in Oman.
The Deepal range includes several premium features offered as standard across models. These include rear-wheel drive systems for improved handling, aerodynamic exterior styling, frameless windows and 20-inch alloy wheels. Safety technologies include Integrated Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC), lane keep assist and traffic jam assist systems.
The vehicles are also equipped with intelligent technology features such as a smart voice assistant, 540-degree camera system, augmented reality head-up display on selected variants, and panoramic sunroof options. Additional comfort-focused features include extended wheelbase configurations for improved legroom and front seats with enhanced flank support.
Deepal S05 targets urban electric mobility
The Deepal S05 has been introduced as an urban SUV equipped with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated range extender and a 27.28 kWh LFP battery. The model offers a pure electric driving range of at least 160 km under NEDC standards and a combined REEV range exceeding 1,000 km under WLTC testing conditions. The S05 delivers a combined maximum power output of 214 hp and 320 Nm of motor torque.
Deepal S07 offers long-range SUV comfort
The larger Deepal S07 SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated range extender paired with a 31.74 kWh battery. It delivers a 160 km pure electric range under WLTP standards and a combined range of 950 km. The model produces a combined maximum power of 235 hp and 320 Nm of torque.
Deepal G318 focuses on off-road capability
The Deepal G318 has been positioned as the most rugged model in the line-up and is offered with all-wheel drive capability. The SUV features a 1.5-litre turbocharged range extender, dual electric motors and a 35.07 kWh battery pack. It offers a pure electric range of 138 km under WLTC standards and a combined range of 848 km. The G318 produces a combined maximum power output of 430 hp and 575 Nm of torque.
The G318 also includes off-road-focused features such as 210 mm ground clearance, a 27-degree approach angle and a 31-degree departure angle. Multiple terrain drive modes, including mud, sand and water wading modes, have also been integrated into the vehicle.
In addition to its off-road capabilities, the G318 includes comfort-oriented features such as seat ventilation and a driver-side massage function designed to improve long-distance travel comfort.
AGAE also confirmed that Deepal vehicles in Oman will be offered with a six-year or 250,000-kilometre vehicle warranty, while the Golden Shield battery warranty extends up to eight years or 250,000 kilometers, whichever comes earlier.
