Al-Amad, a startup within the portfolio of Wadi Makkah Company for Technology, the investment arm of Umm Al-Qura University, introduced an advanced technological innovation called ‘Pathway of the Holy Sites’.

This AI-powered smart mobility platform by Al-Amad is designed to enhance the efficiency of pilgrims’ movement between the holy sites while improving the overall Hajj experience through fully integrated, data-driven smart solutions.

The innovation by Al-Amad startup is part of a developing smart mobility ecosystem that utilizes advanced data analytics and real-time crowd management technologies, thereby significantly reducing congestion, improving traffic flow, and raising safety levels during the Hajj season.

It relies on sophisticated digital systems powered by artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, enabling efficient monitoring and dynamic guidance of crowd flows, as well as providing predictive solutions that equip decision-makers with accurate, real-time indicators to help regulate movement during peak times and high-density situations.

The solution by Al-Amad startup also integrates augmented reality technologies through an interactive and immersive training program that allows pilgrims and Umrah performers to experience the holy sites virtually before arrival.

This helps them familiarize themselves with routes, understand key locations, and perform rituals with greater confidence and reassurance. As a result, it reduces confusion, minimizes navigation errors, and improves overall pilgrim preparedness and satisfaction.

The impact of this technology further extends to personnel serving pilgrims, as it provides a realistic simulation-based training environment for handling emergencies such as heat stress and other potential risks. It also enhances response speed, operational readiness, and coordination with emergency teams and relevant authorities, contributing to a safer and more efficient pilgrimage experience for all participants.
