Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Egypt’s Metallurgical Industries Holding Company, marking a step toward enhanced industrial cooperation between the two nations.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy and Chairman of Mumtalakat Holding Company BSC, and Mohammed Al Sadawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Metallurgical Industries Holding Company.

The signing took place during an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The MoU sets the framework for exploring strategic collaboration opportunities to potentially develop an alumina refinery in Egypt, with potential for offtake agreements and equity participation.
