The Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) at Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has reopened the Kingdom’s airspace after a temporary precautionary closure prompted by recent regional developments.

Authorities confirmed that air traffic operations are resuming under strict safety and security protocols, with continuous coordination among relevant agencies to ensure the protection of passengers and aviation activities.

In a related development, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator of Bahrain International Airport, stated that flights are gradually resuming following the CAA’s decision. The company added that it is working closely with partners to restore normal operations efficiently while maintaining high safety standards.

Bahrain had initially closed its airspace on February 28, 2026, shortly after the outbreak of a regional conflict. With the latest move, the Kingdom becomes the first Gulf country to fully reopen its airspace after a 14-day ceasefire in the US-Israel-Iran conflict came into effect earlier this week.

According to Bahrain News Agency, coordination efforts are ongoing to ensure a smooth and secure return to full operational capacity at the airport and across the aviation sector.

The ceasefire agreement, endorsed by US President Donald Trump and Iran, includes provisions for an immediate halt in hostilities in exchange for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz by Tehran. However, continued Israeli strikes in Lebanon have raised concerns about the stability of the truce. Reports indicate that dozens have been killed and hundreds injured in some of the heaviest attacks since the conflict began in late February.

Despite these developments, Bahraini authorities reaffirmed their commitment to closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that aviation operations continue in line with international safety standards.
