Saudi Aramco has announced a collaboration with solutions by stc to develop a next-generation high-performance supercomputer as part of its ongoing digital transformation strategy.
The project is aimed at strengthening Aramco’s computing infrastructure in upstream operations, particularly in hydrocarbon exploration, production, and recovery.
The initiative, valued at SAR 1.4 billion (approximately $372.5 million), represents the largest computing infrastructure development undertaken by Aramco to date.
It is intended to enhance the company’s ability to process large-scale geological and reservoir data with greater speed and efficiency, supporting decision-making in exploration and production activities.
The new system will support seismic data processing, reservoir modeling, and simulation applications.
It is designed to manage large volumes of data and is expected to provide approximately seven times the computing capacity currently available for Aramco’s upstream operations.
The improved processing capability is expected to contribute to more efficient seismic imaging, more detailed reservoir characterization, and improved analysis of hydrocarbon recovery potential.

The project will utilize advanced high-performance computing technologies from global providers in the sector.
solutions by stc will be responsible for implementation, system integration, software deployment, and ongoing technical support.
System delivery is scheduled to begin in early 2027. Once operational, the supercomputer will support Aramco’s upstream operations and is expected to enhance computational capacity for large-scale geological modeling and simulation requirements.
