Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) has confirmed that several aircraft operated by Gulf Air, along with cargo aircraft from other airlines, have been temporarily repositioned in line with approved operational procedures.
The aircraft were moved without passengers from Bahrain International Airport to alternative airports in coordination with relevant authorities and airline operators.
Operational readiness and continuity
According to Civil Aviation Affairs, the measure is intended to enhance fleet operational readiness and ensure the continuity and efficiency of air operations during the current circumstances.
Officials noted that the transfer of aircraft was carried out through coordinated efforts between aviation authorities, airline operators, and other relevant entities, ensuring that the process adhered to the highest standards of safety and security.
Aircraft repositioning is a routine operational measure within the aviation sector. Such procedures are typically undertaken during specific operational situations to support airlines’ forward planning and to ensure the availability of aircraft where they may be required in the coming period.
Gulf Air said that the temporary repositioning of a number of its aircraft forms part of its broader operational planning aimed at maintaining efficiency across its fleet.
The airline noted that the step will help support upcoming flights and operational requirements while strengthening its connectivity network for customers. It also enhances operational flexibility, allowing the airline to adjust capacity and fleet deployment in line with demand.
By strategically repositioning aircraft, the airline aims to maintain consistent service standards for passengers while ensuring the continued delivery of air transport services.
Authorities emphasized that coordination between Civil Aviation Affairs, government entities, and airline operators will continue to ensure stable and secure aviation operations in Bahrain while supporting the sector’s operational resilience.
