HE Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States, has chaired a high-level meeting in Washington within the framework of Bahrain’s presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The meeting brought together ambassadors of GCC member states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for discussions with Representative Brian Mast, Chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, focusing on regional cooperation and shared strategic priorities.
The meeting was attended by several members of Congress, including Representative Gregory Meeks, Ranking Member of the Committee, Representative Mike Lawler, Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Middle East, Representative Brad Sherman, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee, as well as Representative Joe Wilson and Representative Seth Moulton, members of the House Armed Services Committee.
Key discussions at GCC-Jordan meeting
Discussions focused on the latest regional developments, particularly in light of recent Iranian attacks targeting GCC countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Participants reaffirmed that the security of GCC states is indivisible and interconnected, grounded in the Council’s charter and its collective defense frameworks.
The participants also highlighted the strong and ongoing cooperation between GCC countries and the United States, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and joint efforts to address current challenges in a way that strengthens regional security and stability, safeguards maritime navigation, ensures the uninterrupted flow of international trade, and supports the stability of global energy markets.
They further stressed the need for sustained coordination with the United States and international partners to confront security challenges, enhance the protection of critical infrastructure, and promote both regional and global stability.
