The Kingdom of Bahrain and Japan have signed a consultation document on air transport services and direct flights.

The agreement comes as part of the official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, to Japan.

According to the statement, the agreement includes provisions to launch direct flights between the two countries. This step will enhance trade, investment, and tourism, improve Bahrain International Airport’s connectivity with strategic markets, and provide travelers with new and flexible options through code sharing between airlines.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, commended the strong historical relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Japan, emphasizing that the signing reflects mutual keenness to broaden cooperation and advance shared interests. The minister described Bahrain–Japan ties as a model of bilateral relations built on mutual respect and effective partnership.

The Bahraini Minister highlighted that the consultation document aligns with Bahrain’s leadership’s vision to modernize and develop the air transport system, consolidating Bahrain’s role as a prominent regional and international hub for aviation and logistics.

Furthermore, Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed said the step represents a strategic addition to Bahrain’s air transport agreements, creating greater opportunities for national and international airlines to expand operations in line with sustainable development goals and Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

The Bahraini Minister concluded that “the consultation document with Japan will benefit both countries, reinforcing Bahrain’s role as a key air transport hub in the region, and opening new avenues for cooperation in aviation and logistics to serve the interests of both peoples.”
