One of the largest family-owned multinationals in the Middle East, The Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group (YBA Kanoo) is all set to transform its historic Manama Souq office into a museum.
The legendary office building which was occupied by the group for more than 60 years will be transformed into an open-to-public museum that will showcase the rich heritage of entrepreneurial leadership within the YBA Kanoo family as well as the region itself.
YBA Kanoo Group Chairman Mr. Khalid Mohamed Kanoo preceded the final board meeting at the premise which also had the presence of several YBA Kanoo Group veteran staff members.
The Kanoo Museum
Designed by Cultural Innovations, a London-based global multi-disciplinary museum expertise firm, the museum aims to preserve the iconic YBA Kanoo building while becoming a landmark, a cultural hub that preserves the heritage and achievements of commerce and commercial families and their significant contributions to the economic, social and cultural arenas over the past century.
Khalid Mohamed Kanoo Chairman YBA Kanoo Group
“As one of the most established GCC families in commerce, we have always had a presence in the Souq, and now, with the Kanoo Museum project, we will continue to play a vital role here. The museum is an ideal way to document our history and preserve our family values. We have been considering this project for a long time, as it is a great opportunity to honor our forefathers and to relay our long-standing history. We are excited to repurpose the building and get the work started on this new hub of historic knowledge.”
To be located right behind ‘Bab Al Bahrain’ in the Manama Souq Area, the new museum is expected to become an important landmark destination for visitors of the Souq.
