Best PMO in the World; Dubai Customs earns high praise from PMO Global Alliance

Dubai Customs has been recognized as the “Best PMO in the World 2020” at the PMO Global Awards organized by the PMO Global Alliance, a leading community which aims at connecting PMO (Project Management Office) professionals in the world.

From 2007 to 2019 the Dubai Customs has successfully completed 125 projects worth $95.2 million and has performed the implementation with remarkable professionalism as part of its vision to protect society and achieve economic development.

Dubai Customs have surpassed several government departments and private companies worldwide to achieve this prestigious global recognition. The award was announced in Alliance’s annual award ceremony which was held virtually. The Dubai Customs was also honored as Asia-Pacific PMO of the Year by the Alliance last August.

Commenting on this achievement, Sultan bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman & CEO and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation stated that, ” The UAE’s high levels of excellence have been validated by its top ranking in the Middle East and fifth ranking globally in the WCO’s World Competitiveness Index. The country was also ranked the highest in the Middle East and placed 11th in the Logistics Indicator issued by the World Bank.”

“Nearly 80 percent of the UAE’s external trade goes through Dubai. Advanced technologies and skilled teams enable Dubai Customs to conduct over 40,000 customs transactions a day, while also maintaining border security and facilitating trade activity. Dubai Customs is currently working on the Cross Border eCommerce Project, which is expected to reduce the cost of eCommerce transactions by 20 percent and raise eCommerce activity through Dubai by 12.5 percent.”

Juma Al Ghaith, Executive Director of Customs Development Division at Dubai Customs said, “Projects managed by Dubai Customs’ Development Division have reduced operational costs of clients by $244 million, generated revenues of $104 million, reduced internal operational costs by $152 million and safeguarded $6.8 billion worth of customs revenue. Dubai Customs has achieved a 100 percent digital transformation, which has enabled us to raise the happiness levels of clients to 98 percent.”
