The Bahrain Space Agency (BSA) has been selected to participate in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) initiative to develop the National Space Strategy Toolkit.

National Space Strategy Toolkit is a collaborative effort aimed at supporting countries in creating targeted, sustainable, and efficient space strategies. This involvement reinforces Bahrain’s growing leadership in the global space community.

The WEF led initiative provides a framework to help nations maximize the economic and societal benefits of space technologies and applications. The National Space Strategy Toolkit, developed in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

The toolkit offers step by step guidance, evidence based recommendations, and quantitative insights rooted in global best practices. It also includes a supporting White Paper to aid countries in shaping inclusive and effective space programs.

With the increasing complexity of the space sector, the Toolkit addresses key challenges such as cybersecurity, promotes strategic alignment, and encourages international collaboration and knowledge sharing. It also highlights the role of space in addressing sustainable development, climate resilience, and global governance goals.

Rasha Al Amad, Chief of Strategic Planning at the Bahrain Space Agency, said that the Agency’s contribution to the development of the National Space Strategy Toolkit is built upon its global reputation and continuous success in achieving its strategic objectives, which were set according to clear standards comparable to the best global practices in the space sector.

Al Amad also acknowledged Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri, CEO of the Bahrain Space Agency, for his pivotal contributions to the initiative, noting his participation in all related meetings and his role in significantly shaping the National Space Strategy Toolkit with valuable insights.

“My role focuses on further enhancing the Agency’s contributions by improving usability, navigation, and content relevance to ensure the National Space Strategy Toolkit meets the needs of both emerging and experienced space nations. This participation reaffirms the Agency’s commitment to promoting the Kingdom of Bahrain’s name in the space sector through the development of inclusive and impactful space policy frameworks tailored to the needs of spacefaring nations worldwide, and by building partnerships for the exchange of expertise in the field of space.”

Since October 2024, the Toolkit has been developed through an extensive consultation process involving over 36 participants from 19 countries, including representatives from governments, space agencies, academia, industry, and civil society. This inclusive development process ensures the National Space Strategy Toolkit reflects diverse perspectives and evolving sector needs. The official launch is scheduled for September 2025.
