Design Commission Abu Dhabi (DCAD), under the chairwomanship of HH Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, has launched the One Nation. One People initiative, a community-driven effort that celebrates the spirit of unity and togetherness at the heart of life in the UAE.
Inspired by the UAE’s Year of Family values, the One Nation. One People initiative is rooted in a simple yet powerful idea: the UAE is home to people from diverse backgrounds who come together as one extended family. Citizens and residents share everyday spaces, streets, schools, workplaces, and communities, united by a strong sense of belonging and a shared care for the nation they call home.
The initiative invites institutions, schools, companies, and communities across Abu Dhabi to take part in a collective moment that celebrates the connections uniting people across the country. It has already garnered growing support from government entities, corporate partners, educational institutions, and community organizations, expanding its presence across workplaces, schools, and community networks.
As part of its programming, the One Nation. One People initiative will feature a range of community-focused activations. These include a portrait series highlighting citizens and residents working side by side across sectors, short video reflections exploring shared values, and coordinated moments of participation across institutions and communities.
A strong emphasis is also placed on youth engagement, with schools and educational institutions playing a key role in fostering values of belonging, mutual respect, and shared responsibility among the next generation.
Chaired by HH Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the Board of the Design Commission Abu Dhabi includes Nadine Maalouf, Executive Vice Chairwoman, Rana Kuzayli El Khoury, Undersecretary, and board and advisory members Asma Al Fahim, Rym Al Falasy, Rima Al Mokarrab, Meera Al Suwaidi, and Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani.
Through initiatives like One Nation. One People, Design Commission Abu Dhabi demonstrates the power of design to bring communities together, celebrating shared values and strengthening the bonds that connect society.
