DIFC’s women oriented ‘AcclerateHer’ announces 2nd edition

Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) FinTech Hive, revealed the second edition launch of their female-focused career mentorship accelerator program, ‘AccelerateHer’, to empower women in financial services.

The program focuses on ambitious, young women executives with skill and experience to widen their knowledge and contacts in the industry and help them to frame the future of the financial sector.

The AccelerateHer program also gives 14 selected participants individual guidance from executives through various programs including workshops, mentorship and other activities. This will help the aspirants to expand their networks, skills and knowledge.

Globally women are not considered to significant roles across the financial sector but the first and largest financial technology accelerator in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region has kept gender inclusion as a key agenda since its establishment in 2004.

The DIFC has a significant number of women representation in its Management Team and more than 60 percent of staff and 33 percent of the workforce in the financial center are female.

Rola Abu Manneh, Chief Executive Officer for Standard Chartered Bank UAE said that this program is an excellent platform for distinguished women in the UAE’s financial industry to build their contacts, skills and knowledge. Standard Chartered Bank is one among the mentors from the first edition of AccelerateHer.

The second edition of AccelerateHer started on 24 August, will continue for three months and will wrap up in November. Throughout the program the cohorts will follow the features DIFC FinTech Accelerator Program and take part in more than 20 workshops provided by partners in areas including legal, Tech, HR, compliance, marketing and more.

The first edition of AccelerateHer was launched in April 2019 and was held in partnership with Carter Murray, a global specialist marketing and sales recruitment agency.
