The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has showcased its National Food Factory project at the 10th Al Dhaid Date Festival, supporting agriculture, food manufacturing, and the UAE’s food security objectives.

The festival, organized by SCCI at Expo Al Dhaid, has provided farmers, agricultural businesses, and industry stakeholders with an opportunity to learn about the project and the services it will offer.

The National Food Factory is being developed by SCCI in the Hamda area of Mleiha to increase the value of locally produced agricultural products and provide processing and manufacturing services to farmers, agricultural enterprises, and food manufacturers.

The facility is designed to provide integrated services across the food production chain, including food processing, packaging, drying, storage, and logistics.

It will also offer contract manufacturing, private-label production, and packaging services for products intended for domestic and export markets.

With a planned annual production capacity of 5,000 metric tons, the factory will process dates and vegetables while supporting value-added food production.

The project helps to improve the commercial value of locally produced agricultural products and strengthen their competitiveness in regional and international markets.

According to SCCI, the project has been developed as an industrial platform that supports different stages of the food and agricultural value chain through specialized processing, packaging, warehousing, and logistics services.

The facility will serve a wide range of beneficiaries, including date farmers, agricultural companies, marketing cooperatives, food and beverage manufacturers, distributors, retailers, exporters, and businesses operating in the hospitality and catering sectors.

Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, said that the National Food Factory forms part of the Chamber’s efforts to support the development of Sharjah’s agricultural and food sectors by creating greater value from locally produced agricultural products.

The project will connect agricultural production with food manufacturing services, providing farmers and producers with access to processing facilities that can help improve product quality and expand market opportunities.

Al Awadi added that the initiative supports the Sharjah Chamber’s strategy to encourage investment in food manufacturing, strengthen high-potential economic sectors, and contribute to sustainable economic development. He noted that the project also supports the UAE’s food security objectives by expanding local food processing capacity.

The National Food Factory will provide services including date processing, vegetable processing, contract manufacturing, industrial packaging, and private-label production.

It will also include refrigerated and dry warehouses equipped with inventory management systems to support storage, distribution, and logistics operations.
