The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), in partnership with SEHA Clinics, a subsidiary of PureHealth, has expanded 24-hour operations at several Abu Dhabi primary care centers to improve healthcare access, urgent care, and patient experience.
The initiative marks a significant step in Abu Dhabi’s efforts to strengthen its healthcare infrastructure by ensuring residents have greater access to timely, integrated, and patient-centric medical services while reducing pressure on hospital emergency departments.
Under the new plan, primary care centers in Mazyad and Sweihan are already operating 24×7 and currently provide urgent care services to surrounding communities.
In addition, ten more centers across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain have transitioned to 24-hour operations in preparation for launching urgent care services in the second quarter of 2026.
These centers include Al Hili, Al Aamerah, Al Hayer, Neima, Al Quaa, Al Bateen, Al Zafaranah, Al Bahia, Madinat Mohammed Bin Zayed, and Baniyas.
The phased rollout is designed to broaden geographic healthcare coverage and meet rising demand for accessible medical services, particularly for urgent but non-life-threatening conditions that can be treated outside hospital emergency rooms.
By enabling primary care facilities to manage urgent cases more effectively, the expansion is expected to ease congestion in hospital emergency departments, allowing hospitals to focus resources on critical and life-threatening emergencies.
Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi Undersecretary DoH
“Expanding access to care through around-the-clock operation of primary care centres, alongside strengthening urgent care services, marks a pivotal step in our journey to build a more resilient, proactive, and efficient healthcare system, one that continuously responds to the needs of individuals and families. Access to care that is both timely and convenient remains a core principle of quality healthcare, and this initiative will contribute to achieving that, allowing us to deliver improved health outcomes and enhanced patient experience while strengthening the sustainability of healthcare services and advancing community health and quality of life for all.”
Rashed Al Qubaisi, Group Chief Operating Officer of PureHealth, noted that, ‘’With the support of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) and in line with PureHealth’s mission, we are witnessing a milestone that reflects SEHA CLINICS’ dedication to providing patient-centered services that meet the diverse needs of the community. Several SEHA CLINICS now operate 24 hours a day, with urgent care integrated into selected centers, reflecting our ongoing commitment to delivering world-class healthcare and supporting long-term community health.”
The expansion follows updated regulatory standards for emergency departments and urgent care centers introduced by DoH in late 2025.
These revised frameworks are intended to ensure seamless care integration, service quality, patient safety, and operational sustainability across healthcare facilities.
Selected centers will now incorporate urgent care services under these enhanced regulatory guidelines, creating a more efficient continuum of care between primary healthcare, urgent intervention, and specialist referral pathways.
