The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) has opened Duqm Airport-Ras Markaz Dual Carriageway, that connects the Duqm Airport roundabout to the crude oil storage tanks of the Oman Tank Terminal Company in Ras Markaz.
Spanning a total length of over 51 kilometers, the Duqm Airport-Ras Markaz Dual Carriageway serves as a vital artery reinforcing Duqm’s position as a global hub for investment and logistics.
The road extends over 42.9 kilometers, featuring two lanes in each direction, supported by a 11.5-kilometer network of service roads, including access to side roundabouts and connecting routes to the airport.
The Duqm Airport-Ras Markaz Dual Carriageway links the Ras Markaz oil tanks to Duqm Airport, passing alongside the Green Industries Zone and several major projects under development. It also connects to the road leading to Dhaher Village and the strategic route to Salalah.
The new road will improve SEZAD’s regional and global competitiveness by supporting logistics supply chains and enabling faster investment growth, particularly in energy, petrochemicals and support services.
The Duqm Airport-Ras Markaz Dual Carriageway includes a modern lighting network with intelligent management systems and integration with advanced electrical grids. It also features culverts for rainwater drainage, ensuring road sustainability and traffic safety in varying conditions.
The carriageway supports small and medium enterprises, engaged local firms and created job opportunities. Officials said this reflected SEZAD’s wider role in boosting the economy beyond infrastructure by contributing to social and economic development.
The opening of Duqm Airport-Ras Markaz Dual Carriageway underlines SEZAD’s commitment to expanding integrated infrastructure to support industrial, commercial and tourism projects, reinforcing Duqm’s position as a multi-sector economic hub.
