The third edition of Global Labor Market Conference (GLMC) has commenced in Riyadh, bringing together ministers of labor, policymakers, and experts to discuss key challenges facing labor markets.
The event was inaugurated by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al-Rajhi. In his opening remarks, the minister emphasized that global labor markets are rapidly transforming due to technological advancements, demographic shifts, and changing skills requirements.
Al-Rajhi noted that the Global Labor Market Conference highlights the significant progress of the Saudi labor market under Vision 2030 and fosters meaningful global dialogue on workforce transformation by drawing on international experiences, best practices, and innovative policy approaches.
A ministerial meeting took place on the sidelines of the Global Labor Market Conference, with the participation of the labor ministers. The discussion focused on the major challenges facing labor markets, including technological transformation, skills development, the informal economy, improving job quality, empowering youth and women, and promoting inclusivity.
The ministers at the meeting emphasized that human capital investment is central to economic growth, called for flexible policies to address the fast-evolving labor market, and underscored the need to turn discussions into tangible actions through collaborative programs and partnerships with global organizations.
The Global Labor Market Conference will feature the participation of over 40 labor ministers and more than 200 international speakers, attracting more than 10,000 participants from both within and outside the Kingdom, including policymakers, industry leaders, and academics.
The program will include more than 50 sessions and events, highlighting the GLMC’s significant role as a leading global platform for dialogue, collaboration, and shaping the future of work.
