The Greater Muscat Master Plan has joined the Global Business Districts Innovation Club as its 15th international member and the first from the Middle East, marking a significant step in the Sultanate of Oman’s growing global urban presence.

The membership highlights Greater Muscat’s emergence as a competitive urban model, combining strategic master planning, sustainability, quality of life, and investment readiness. It also places the capital within a global network of leading business districts, including Paris La Défense, Chicago Loop, Toronto Waterfront, and Liverpool BID.

The milestone reflects efforts led by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning Oman to position Greater Muscat as a globally competitive city through a long-term strategy focused on strengthening urban infrastructure and economic performance.

The plan aims to build a connected and sustainable city by developing an integrated ecosystem of 15 specialized economic clusters, expanding the non-oil economy, and implementing a modern transit network to improve mobility and livability.

The Global Business Districts Innovation Club brings together leading business districts, urban planners, developers, investors, and experts to promote collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the development of sustainable and competitive urban models.

Greater Muscat’s membership is expected to boost Muscat’s global investment profile by providing access to international expertise, investors, and decision-makers, while offering a platform to showcase key projects and attract strategic partnerships.

It also enhances the city’s credibility among global investors, increasing visibility for its urban initiatives and enabling it to adopt best practices in building sustainable, business-friendly environments capable of attracting multinational companies and talent.
