The International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), a UNESCO-affiliated institution based in Riyadh, has emphasized the need to align the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and data with ethical principles.

The center called for responsible AI practices to help build a more inclusive, sustainable, and peaceful world while fostering public trust amid rapid technological advancement.

ICAIRE stressed the importance of establishing clear standards and implementing practical measures to ensure the effective application of AI ethics, improve reliability, and reduce potential risks. The center also urged relevant authorities to adopt these guidelines to promote the safe and equitable use of emerging technologies.

According to the statement, this call was made during a series of in-person and virtual meetings organized by ICAIRE, bringing together AI specialists and academics from Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Libya, and Palestine.

The sessions were also attended by representatives from UNESCO, the Arab League, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization, the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as international AI experts and policymakers.

The discussions underscored ICAIRE’s vital role as both a cultural and knowledge bridge in the field of AI ethics, serving as a leading platform for sharing global expertise and best practices.

As part of its mission, the center actively supports the harmonization of national policies with international ethical frameworks. This alignment contributes to the development of more reliable and trustworthy AI systems, while also enhancing the readiness of countries to adopt and implement these technologies in a responsible and sustainable manner.
