Bahrain’s Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), and United Nations (UN) organizations have engaged in discussions to explore digital cooperation, on the sidelines of the 2025 MENA eGovernment workshop.

Hosted by Qatar Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in cooperation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA), the 2nd edition of workshop featured the representatives of the UN, Arab and GCC countries, and other regional nations, alongside official delegations, experts, and representatives of international organizations.

During a meeting, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), and Danny Wazen, Head of the Digital Transformation Team at the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, have explored cooperation in capacity building for human resources in artificial intelligence and its crucial role in supporting the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Al Qaed also met with Morten Meyerhoff, Academic Fellow and eGovernment Advisor at the United Nations University, to discuss cooperation in enhancing user experience and organizing joint workshops on global best practices to support public satisfaction with digital services.

In another meeting with Hunt La Cascia, Senior Public Sector Specialist at the World Bank,  Al Qaed discussed strategic projects and reviewed Bahrain’s technical experience in governance, including the recently launched upgraded ID card and the eKey 2.0 system, which offers biometric authentication for unified access to services.

These discussions took place alongside Al Qaed’s participation in the “Digital Governments in GCC Countries” session, held in cooperation with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), and attended by senior officials and experts in digital government and transformation.
