Lootah Biofuels, a pioneer in the clean energy sector in the United Arab Emirates, has achieved a new Gulf-wide milestone by winning the ‘GCC Industrial Excellence Award 2025’ in the medium factories category.
The award was presented during the Third GCC Industrial Exhibition, alongside the Meetings of GCC Ministers of Commerce and Industry, hosted by the State of Kuwait, where Yousuf bin Saeed Lootah, Founder and CEO of Lootah Biofuels, received the Industrial Excellence Award.
The honor recognizes the company’s outstanding efforts, visionary industrial role, achievements, and forward-looking initiatives in providing and innovating sustainable solutions to meet the long-term requirements of renewable energy. Lootah Biofuels has been redefining the quality standards of biodiesel fuel and expanding access to sustainable, eco-friendly biofuels locally and across the GCC.
Lootah Biofuels participated in the GCC Industrial Exhibition organized by Kuwait’s Public Authority for Industry, which featured the launch of the Gulf Industrial Platform and the GCC Industrial Excellence Awards.
As the first commercial biofuel company in the Middle East, Lootah Biofuels showcased its achievements and engaged in high-level discussions to advance regional collaboration in sustainable energy. The company plays a key role in meeting growing demand for alternative fuels, promoting circular economy principles, and supporting the GCC’s transition toward renewable energy and climate neutrality.
Lootah Biofuels showcased its Sustainable Bio Yacht Fuel (SBYF) at the GCC Industrial Exhibition: a marine biofuel made from used cooking oils (UCO) to meet the growing demand for low-emission fuels in the marine transport sector, especially for luxury yachts. Produced locally using advanced technologies and adhering to global standards, SBYF is now available at the Dubai Marina Yacht Club through a collaboration with Emaar Properties.
The company also presented its Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), launched in the UAE market during the Dubai Airshow 2025, positioning Lootah Biofuels among the few local suppliers of this clean fuel.
Produced from UCO and waste-derived fats, SAF meets international standards and will initially be available through imports from global partners. Engineering and feasibility studies for a dedicated local production plant have also been completed, reinforcing Lootah Biofuels’ commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions.
