The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has launched Evergreen Marine’s new ARPG service at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam.

This strategic move marks a significant step in bolstering Saudi Arabia’s maritime infrastructure and aligns with national efforts to strengthen the Kingdom’s role as a global logistics hub.

The ARPG shipping service will enhance maritime connectivity by linking King Abdulaziz Port with nine key regional and international ports. By improving logistics capabilities and reducing turnaround times, the new service will bolster the overall efficiency of cargo handling operations at Saudi ports.

This expanded network is expected to facilitate smoother trade flows, improve cargo handling efficiency, and attract more shipping lines to Saudi ports, ultimately contributing to the growth of the Kingdom’s import and export sectors.

According to the statement, the new ARPG service strengthens Saudi Arabia’s logistics network by linking Dammam with key ports across Asia and the Middle East, including Port Klang (Malaysia), Laem Chabang (Thailand), Vung Tau (Vietnam), Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Yantian, Ningbo, and Shanghai (China), Umm Qasr (Iraq), and Jebel Ali (UAE). The service will operate with a carrying capacity of up to 9,466 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

New ARPG service elevates King Abdulaziz Port’s global standing

Mawani stated that the addition of the ARPG service affirms King Abdulaziz Port’s strategic role in international trade and enhances its competitiveness for exporters, importers, and shipping agents. It also supports the Kingdom’s efforts to boost operational efficiency and improve its position in global logistics performance indicators.

The move aligns with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which seeks to position Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
