Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has awarded the OHLA–HACS joint venture, comprising OHL Arabia LLC and Hassan Allam Construction Saudi Limited Co, a contract to deliver the Dammam 2nd Industrial City Railway Connection Project in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

The project will establish a strategic rail link serving the Dammam 2nd Industrial City, supporting the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen freight transportation, industrial connectivity and logistics infrastructure.

Under the contract awarded to OHLA-HACS, the joint venture will execute the full scope of civil and railway works, including the construction of a 22.7-kilometre single-track railway. The project includes extensive civil foundations, earthworks and track infrastructure, as well as key structures such as a 265-metre bridge over Highway HW615 and a 118-metre bridge crossing the ARAMCO Pipeline Corridor.

The scope of work also includes the installation of signaling and telecommunications systems, alongside all required works for the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to ensure seamless integration of the new railway line into the national rail network.

The Dammam 2nd Industrial City Railway Connection Project marks a significant addition to Saudi Arabia’s expanding railway infrastructure and aligns with the Kingdom’s long-term transportation and logistics development plans aimed at enhancing freight mobility, industrial integration and operational efficiency.

The OHLA-HACS contract further strengthens Hassan Allam Holding’s regional transport and mobility portfolio. The company is currently involved in several major rail and transit projects, including Cairo Metro Line 4 and the Alexandria Raml Tram in Egypt, the monorail serving Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District, and the Hafeet Rail project linking Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

Together, these projects highlight the company’s experience in delivering complex rail and mobility infrastructure and underscore its role in advancing regional connectivity and long-term economic integration.
