The Oman Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources, represented by the Food Safety and Quality Center, has formalized a memorandum of cooperation with Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company (Nama) to enhance coordination in monitoring drinking water quality across the Sultanate.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of the Food Quality and Safety Center by Dr. Intisar bint Salem Al-Gharibiyah, Acting Director General of the Center, and on behalf of the company by Ahmed bin Rashid Al-Khamisi, Head of the Business Assurance and Excellence Unit.

The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration between the two entities and facilitate the exchange of expertise in areas of mutual interest.

Under the terms of the memorandum, both parties will work closely to promote scientific research in the water sector and enhance the monitoring of potential pollutants that may affect drinking water sources.

The collaboration also aims to develop innovative solutions and advanced methodologies to further improve water quality management and ensure the safety and reliability of drinking water supplies throughout the Sultanate.

Officials noted that the agreement reflects a shared commitment to strengthening institutional coordination and adopting best practices to maintain high standards in water safety and environmental protection.

In addition to technical cooperation, the memorandum places emphasis on supporting scientific activities, knowledge exchange, and research initiatives related to water quality and safety.

The partnership will also focus on promoting community awareness about water quality issues and encouraging responsible practices that contribute to the protection of water resources.

By facilitating cooperation in research and awareness programs, the two organizations aim to foster innovation and build stronger capabilities in the management of water resources.

The signing of the memorandum underscores the commitment of both entities to supporting national efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development and enhancing quality of life in Oman.
