The Ministry of Economy of the Sultanate of Oman has held a high-level meeting with a delegation from the World Bank to discuss strengthening technical cooperation across multiple sectors, with a focus on economic diversification, labor market development, and the implementation of national strategic programs.
The meeting took place at the Ministry’s headquarters and was attended by Dr. Munther Hilal Al Busaidi, Head of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit at the oman’s Ministry of Economy. The World Bank delegation was led by Wendy Werner, Country Manager of the World Bank Group for the Sultanate.
Discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation in key economic and development areas aligned with Oman’s long-term national priorities. Officials reviewed ongoing economic diversification initiatives and examined recent labor market developments in the Sultanate as part of broader efforts to strengthen sustainable economic growth.
The two sides also explored mechanisms to align future initiatives in a way that delivers mutual added value and supports strategic development objectives. The meeting included a review of economic performance indicators achieved under Oman’s Tenth Five-Year Plan, as well as progress made in implementing programs linked to Oman Vision 2040.
Officials highlighted the importance of technical collaboration in supporting policy development, improving institutional efficiency, and accelerating the execution of national economic transformation initiatives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Omani ministry and the World bank stressed the importance of maintaining continuous technical coordination and agreed to hold further meetings aimed at discussing operational priorities and developing frameworks for future joint cooperation.
The engagement reflects Oman’s ongoing efforts to deepen partnerships with international financial institutions and global development organizations to support economic modernization, investment growth, and long-term fiscal sustainability under Oman Vision 2040.
