Oman’s Petrochem production climbed 5.7% by the end of 2021; NCSI

Oman’s total products of refineries and petroleum industries increased by 5.7 percent at the end of December 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, according to data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Petrol (95)

The data showed that the production of Premium unleaded 95 petrol, increased by 3 percent to reach 13,182,200 barrels by the end of December 2021, compared to 12,805,700 barrels for the same period in 2020.

The volume of sales of Fuel (95) amounted to about 12.6 million and 700 barrels, an increase of 9 percent over the same period of 2020, which amounted to 11.5 million and 700 barrels, while the volume of its exports amounted to 1.4 million and 200 barrels.

Car fuel (91)

The production of ordinary car fuel (91) also increased by the end of last December by 37 percent to reach 13,163,500 barrels, compared to the same period in 2020, which witnessed the production of 9,597,600 barrels. Fuel (91) sales reached about 9,104,500 barrels, compared to the same period in 2020, which amounted to 7,831,400 barrels, a rise of 16 percent.

Diesel 

While the production of gas oil (diesel) increased by 1 percent to reach 34.3 million and 700 barrels, compared to 34 million and 200 barrels that were produced until the end of December 2020, and its sales amounted to about 13.3 million and 600 barrels, while its exports amounted to 21 million and 300 barrels compared to the end of December 2020, which recorded 20 million and 500 barrels.

Jet fuel

Jet fuel production at the end of last December was 5,877,700 barrels, down 16 percent from the same period in 2020, when it was 6,980,900 barrels, and sales were 1,616,900 barrels, down 4 percent from 1.6 million and 700 barrels in 2020. While exports were 4.2 million and 200 barrels, down 21 percent from the same period in 2020, which amounted to 5 million and 340 thousand and 600 barrels.

LPG

The production of LPG by the end of December 2021 amounted to about 7 million and 400 barrels, an increase of 14 percent compared to the same period in 2020, which amounted to 6.1 million and 800 barrels. As for its sales, it amounted to 6,996 thousand and 200 barrels, an increase of 153 percent over the same period of 2020, while its exports amounted to 460 thousand and 700 barrels, a decrease of 88 percent compared to the same period in 2020.

Benzene & Polypropylene

As for petrochemicals, benzene production increased by 21 percent to 215,500 metric tons, and its exports amounted to 217,400 metric tons, and paraxylene production reached 556,900 metric tons, while its exports were 559,100 metric tons. Polypropylene production declined by 13 percent to about 204,800 metric tons, and its sales climbed by 25 percent to 43,200 metric tons, while its exports decreased by 15 percent to 153,200 metric tons compared to the same period in 2020.
