Qatar Airways has partnered with Barzan Holdings and Satys Aerospace, a key player in aircraft painting and surface treatment solutions, aimed at developing an innovative widebody aircraft painting facility at Dukhan Air Base.

This marks the region’s first widebody Satys paint facility to feature next-generation digital technology aircraft painting, highlighting Qatar Airways and Barzan Holdings’ commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030 by developing industrial capabilities, creating skilled jobs and advancing Qatar’s leadership in aviation technology.

The project, designed to accommodate commercial, VIP, and military aircraft, will include two widebody paint facilities, including a multipurpose hangar for light maintenance activities.

The new facility will serve airline operators across the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, providing seamless access to specialized painting services that reduce aircraft ground time by eliminating the need to ferry aircraft overseas for repainting.

As part of its commitment to sustainability, the facility leverages environmentally friendly paint systems, including energy-efficient booths and waste management controls. It also plans for automatic robotic painting in future.

Furthermore, the facility will enable dual-use operations, supporting both civil and defense aviation needs by meeting respective technical and safety specification, aligning fully with Qatar’s strategy to localize high-value services, championing local aerospace expertise.
