Qatar and the European Union have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening energy cooperation and supporting the stability of global energy supplies.
The discussions took place during a virtual meeting between Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs, and Ditte Juul-Jorgensen, Director-General for Energy at the European Commission.
The meeting focused on the potential impact of ongoing regional tensions on global energy markets and supply chains. Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining stable and secure energy supplies, particularly as geopolitical developments continue to influence international energy flows.
During the discussions, Al-Kaabi reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to remaining a reliable energy supplier to global markets.
The Minister stressed that the country continues to prioritize the stability of the international energy supply while also strengthening its long-standing cooperation with the European Union in the energy sector.
Qatar has emerged as one of the world’s leading exporters of liquefied natural gas (LNG), playing a critical role in supporting energy security in several regions, including Europe.
In recent years, energy cooperation between Qatar and the European Union has deepened as European countries seek to diversify energy sources and enhance supply resilience.
Al-Kaabi highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration between Qatar and European partners, noting that continued dialogue and strategic coordination are key to addressing global energy challenges and ensuring reliable supply for international markets.
Juul-Jorgensen expressed the European Union’s solidarity with Qatar in light of the current regional tensions. She reaffirmed the EU’s recognition of Qatar’s role as a dependable energy partner and emphasized the bloc’s strong interest in maintaining the stability and security of global energy supplies.
Qatar and the EU agreed to continue consultations and cooperation in order to support energy market stability and strengthen long-term energy partnerships between Qatar and the European Union.
