Qatar Investment Authority has increased its stake in Monumental Sports and Entertainment (MSE), a leading firm that integrates sports, media, and entertainment.
The Authority first invested in MSE in 2023 as part of its strategy to pursue long-term, high-value investments that deliver sustainable returns and support the growth of leading global platforms.
MSE recently announced Arctos Partners as a new minority investor, with both organizations sharing a commitment to strengthening Washington, DC, and positioning it as a leading global hub for sports and entertainment.
MSE owns and operates the Washington Capitals (NHL), Washington Wizards (NBA), Washington Mystics (WNBA), Capital City Go-Go (NBA G League), Wizards Gaming (NBA 2K League), as well as the Monumental Sports Network (MNMT), alongside other major sports and entertainment investments.
The company also operates Capital One Arena in downtown Washington, DC, and is leading an $800 million-plus transformation of the arena and the surrounding sports and entertainment district through a public-private partnership with the District of Columbia government.
Qatar Investment Authority is a major investor in several leading US companies across sectors including real estate, technology, consumer goods, and healthcare. Its diversified portfolio also includes CityCenterDC, a mixed-use development near Capital One Arena, where the Authority is the principal owner.
